1. Who we are
The GentleWomen Club (“GWC”, “we”, “us”) is operated by B.B., acting as data controller. The GentleWomen Club is a cultural and conversational club for women, published at thegentlewomenclub.com.

2. What data we collect, why, and on what legal basis
- Email address and name, collected when you subscribe to our newsletter via Substack. Purpose: send you our editorials and Codes, and manage your subscription. Legal basis: your consent or performance of a contract.
- Payment information, collected when you take a paid subscription. Purpose: process your payment. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
- Aggregated, anonymous usage statistics (pages viewed, country, device type). Purpose: understand how the site is used and improve it. Collected via Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and does not collect personal data or build individual profiles. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.
- Server log data (IP address, browser, timestamps). Purpose: keep the site secure and running. Legal basis: our legitimate interest.
- The content of any email you send us. Purpose: reply to you. Legal basis: our legitimate interest or your consent.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not run advertising trackers.
3. Cookies
Our analytics provider (Plausible) is cookieless. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site may set strictly necessary or functional cookies required for it to work (for example, if you log in to a members’ area).
4. Who we share your data with
We use trusted service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Substack (newsletter and paid subscriptions): USA
- Stripe (payment processing, via Substack): USA
- Plausible Analytics (privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics): European Union (Estonia)
- OVH (website hosting and domain/email): France / European Union
- Spotify (podcast distribution; when you listen on Spotify, Spotify’s own privacy policy applies)
Our website fonts are self-hosted on our own EU server: no data is sent to Google to display them.
5. International data transfers
Some providers above (Substack, Stripe) are based in the United States. Where your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
6. How long we keep your data
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
- Payment and billing data: for as long as required by Stripe and by applicable accounting and tax law.
- Server logs: for a limited period, as set by our host.
- Analytics: aggregated and anonymous, not tied to you.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to: access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its processing, port it to another service, and withdraw your consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email bb@thegentlewomenclub.com. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in every email.
8. Complaints
If you believe your data is not handled properly, you can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in France, the CNIL; in Spain, the AEPD).
9. Children
GWC is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date below reflects the latest version.
